I have installed pear and it seems to be working just fine for all its own functions like list, install etc. e.g.: $pear list INSTALLED PACKAGES: =================== +----------------+----------+--------+ | PACKAGE | VERSION | STATE | | Archive_Tar | 0.9 | stable | | Console_Getopt | 0.11 | beta | | DB | 1.3 | stable | | HTTP | 1.2 | stable | | Mail | 1.0.1 | stable | | Net_SMTP | 1.0 | stable | | Net_Socket | 1.0.1 | stable | | PEAR | 0.91-dev | beta | | XML_Parser | 1.0 | stable | | XML_RPC | 1.0.3 | stable | +----------------+----------+--------+ They really are installed: $pear install mail downloading Mail-1.0.1.tgz ... ...done: 11,825 bytes Mail already installed But I still can't use any of them. What more do I have to do? I can't get _any_ pear examples to work. PHP doesn't seem to have any idea that pear exists. I can't see how it is supposed to know - I don't know where pear has installed its php files, but they're not in my include path. How does PHP know where to find the pear files? None of the pear code samples have any kind of include or require commands (I found one that had a require("pear/db.php"), but that still gave me a class not found error). I can't see anything in the docs to cover this - it makes out that once you have installed pear, it should all just be available from PHP, but it seems in my case it just isn't. This just has to be something very simple that I've missed - can anyone tell me what?
