Thank you for the comments,
I had checked .../pear/docs/DB/doc/TESTERS but ignored it since I don't have
a Cygwin environment installed and have never used an X-nix OS (or CVS). I
was trying to run the tests using the 'pear run-tests' command in a DOS
window. I beleive I eliminated the influence of 'Include_Path' setting by
replacing './*.inc' references with full pathnames each time a test failed
because of 'missing' *.inc files. What killed my progress was the total
absence of the 'droptable.inc' file anywhere under my C:\php... directory
structure.
At this point I've concluded that getting the tests to run would be a
diversion for which I am ill-prepared.
