Limiting DB_FormBuilder Links

Is there anyway to limit the number of results returned when using the linkDisplay feature of DB_Dataobject_Formbuilder?
Example: I'm using a lookup table with 1000's of records for different uses (ie different lookup values for different tables / forms) , but I want to return only a subset for display in my select. Allowing the user to select only from the relevant set of values.
I'm sure there is a way. I'm just a we little slow today.
