on a provider that doesnt allow ini_set or .htaccess-files i changed the pear-files, and put a PEAR_PATH constant before all includes/requires that contains the path on the server to the pear-directory. Markus Wolff wrote:

Bull... beta or not, PEAR can´t hurt their systems as it´s pure PHP script code - and pretty high quality in general, that is. Can you therefore suggest a hosting provider that is prepared to allow a site on his server using this technology? Somewhere in the UK? For a reasonable price? You can use any provider who supports PHP. Just make a local install of PEAR on your own machine. Then copy the whole PEAR directory tree to some location in your webspace account that can be accessed by PHP. After that, add that same directory to PHP´s include_path for your webspace account. Depending on the settings of your provider´s machine, you can do so by either putting an Apache directive into a .htaccess file or by setting the include_path option directly in your PHP scripts via the ini_set() function.
