RE: [PEAR] question to installation of Pear under Windows 98

I just got through installing PEAR a few days ago on Win2000 and had the exact same problems your seeing. The problem I found is that you cannot create the directory for your PEAR files directly under your PHP directory if you are going to use the name of PEAR for the directory i.e. this will not work for your PEAR_PATH: C:\Programme\Apache\htdocs\php4\pear This is because the PEAR installer creates a pear executable file called 'pear' within your PHP installation under C:\Programme\Apache\htdocs\php4 which is what the pear.bat file calls and runs. You cannot have a file & a directory exist in the same location with the same name. Either choose another name for your PEAR directory or locate it elsewhere on your system. I ended up putting PEAR under the root as C:\pear. Once I did this and reinstalled PEAR, modified the pear.bat to point to the correct locations, everything worked fine.
