Hmm I just ran your script on a win2k box that is really similar.
I don't really know what else could be causing problems here.
So the fact that the reverse_engeering_xml_schema script works seems to
indicate you can connect via MDB.
Since you also tried the root account you also seem to have the rights
to create the DB. Generally the fact that things just hang point me to a
different problem unrelated to MDB or the Manager.
