When a connection already exists, and another one is requested php will
pick up the already existing connection, and not actually create a new
one. That's the story I've been told anyway. One of the developers can
probably confirm this.

Subject: [PEAR] Auth class
Hello,
I've been wondering somtehing about the auth class, does it always open
up a new connection to the DB on every call ?
From what i've read in the code it looks like, shouldn't there be a way
to use an existing connection if it exists ? the cost of creating a
connection on every call to the class seems a bit high.
Sorry if i'm wrong, i'm just getting in the class business ;)
Arnaud.
