Any help is greatly appreciated. I read about some "bytecode compiler" so I am posting to this list.
The compiler itself is part of PHP since version 4.0.0. What you want is an encoder that you can use to store the compiled PHP code in files that can be loaded at execution time. There are some commercial solutions. There is also bcompiler but it is limited to encoding classes, not plain scripts. For a completely free solution that is not limited to classes, you may want to try Turck MMCache. It was originally an cache extension, but it evolved to also be an optimizer, encoder and also a shared memory session manager that even works on Windows. The part of being an optimized also helps protecting better your scripts. You may find it here: http://www.turcksoft.com/en/e_mmc.htm -- Regards, Manuel Lemos Free ready to use OOP components written in PHP http://www.phpclasses.org/
