This should probably be a FAQ - anyone out there on the PEAR web team that can add this to the FAQ?
Q. Can I use PEAR classes in my closed source application?

Stump http://www.joestump.net "How would this sentence be different if pi equaled 3?"I'm creating an application that is closed source using PHP. Specifically I'm using PEAR::DB and PEAR::Log (as well as Smarty) and I was wondering what my restrictions were. AFAICS it's OK to use PEAR in closed source applications as long as: 1.) I'm not charging for PEAR 2.) I'm not encrypting or encoding PEAR 3.) I give the people I sell my application to a copy of the source and license Am I correct? Smarty is LGPL, which allows me to distribute unmodified versions of Smarty with my application. So my question is: How about PEAR?This depends on the license of the package you want to use. But as both DB and Log are available under the PHP License, I don't see a problem in redistributing it under the conditions you already listed. --- Martin Martin Jansen http://martinjansen.com/-- PEAR General Mailing List (http://pear.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php --
