Pierre,
Yep, that worked - thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Hey folks,
Wondering if somebody might be able to help out. In trying to install PEAR on debian 3, and am getting some strange results. I
have the php4-pear, php4-cgi, and php4-domxml packages installed. When I try to run pear list-available from any directory (say from /)
I think you should not use php4-pear packages, remove php4-pear and install PEAR manually using go-pear. You will get the last version (deb package was outdated the last time I checked it). See the manual about the procedure to install PEAR (http://pear.php.net/manual/en/installation.getting.php) hth pierre
