To get the latest version of PEAR from CVS, run the following lines:
$ cvs -z3 -d :pserver:cvsread@cvs.php.net:/repository login
Password: [use "phpfi" as password]
cvs -z3 -d :pserver:cvsread@cvs.php.net:/repository co pear
You now have a directory pear on your system that contains the
latest versions of all packages from the PEAR tree.
