A additional thought, would it not be possible to set the default action of a page to 'next' - so if nobody sets the variable they wont fall flat on their face :-)

I don't like the idea as e.g. the tabbed form must have 'submit' as the default action, not 'next'. So let the user choose instead of making the potentially erroneous default.

Who updates the PEAR documentation to reflect the new method?

I'll try to update the docs before the next manual build (which will happen on Sunday).
