QF Controller submit button disabling

Hi, Is it valid to add an onclick handler to a submit/action button in a QF Controller page? I've added the following attribute array('onclick' => 'this.disabled=true;') and this causes the page to not submit when making the "next" button become disabled. Is it possible to have the best of both worlds? -- controller pages & actions with submit buttons which get disabled on click.
