I've been seeing very slow installs on my local dev machine (Linux)
using pear install XXXXXXXXX. Most of the time they time out and it
tells me the package is corrupt because it didn't dl the whole thing.
Just browsing the pear.php.net site is painfully slow, too. Other sites
are okay. I usually use Konqueror or Mozilla under KDE. Finally tryed
Galeon under KDE and all the lag went away and I was finally able to dl
the tgzs and install MDB and PhpDocumentor on this machine. No problems
under Windows. I am glad it's not just me, though.
Don't know if that helps determine what the problem is.
