Hello,
I finally figured out the problem with "pear install http_download" and
committed a fix just a few minutes ago.
Please test this tarball to make sure all is well. The only change from
the previous tarball is the fix, which was a commit to dependency
handling of package.xml version 1.0 deps when no releases exist, so I
don't expect this to affect any other commands.
If this bug has been fixed, and all normal commands still work on your
systems (as they do on both my windows and my brand new gentoo systems),
I will release PEAR 1.4.2 tomorrow.
