New Comment:
If I load the feed in Firefox, everything looks fine. Thus I'm closing
this bug report for now.

For info the parsing on NetNewsWire 2 latest beta was improved and the
feed is now rendered properly. I don't know what you might want to do
then.

NetNewsWire2 on OS X.
Opening http://pear.php.net/feeds/latest.rss
directly in firefox will
also have the same effect.

Can you point us to an aggregator that fails, so that we can reproduce
the issue?

Description:
------------
The description element of the feeds (the latest release feed for
example) may be rendered incorrectly in some aggregators.
The description shows in one line making hard to read.
A solution could be to add cdata to the description element.
