Assuming that you're ok to change the license for the client library
to a PHP compatible license (the PHP license is preferred), then it
sounds like a good candidate for a PDO driver.
Docs on writing PDO drivers are currently non-existent, but it is not
too hard. I suggest looking at pdo_sqlite, the latest addition, which
is probably the simplest PDO driver so far.
Naming wise, the current PDO convention would be pdo_simplesql.
PDO is PHP 5+ compatible only, but saves you from writing all the
boring bits; your driver only needs to do the essential parts. (so no
need to register classes, but it does mean massaging your existing
code to fit).
If you don't want to write a PDO driver, then our general convention
would be to name the package simplesql; your classes should then have
a prefix of something other than D, so that they don't collide with
other packages or user classes. SimpleSQLXXX would be safest I guess,
but is perhaps a little long.
