If I want to update, i have to download the latest version from the website, even if I got already the last one. I think It will be better to add version info inside the package itself. Example for tidy, just adding a function tidy_version() or tidy_pecl_version() ... coz i'm not sure if some packages are already using _version() It will be useful if tomorrow we can add a client interface to get the latest stable pecl packages. Best Regards, HatemI'm not exactly sure what you mean--all pecl packages contain version info. In fact the package itself is named acording to the release. i.e PackageName-1.0.tgz. If you need to update a package you can use `pear install PackageName' or better yet `pear update PackageName'. Some extensions define an *_version() function so you can programatically check but its not a requirement. You can also see what version info comes along with the phpinfo() function under that extensions info table. AFAIK the ReflectionAPI als works with extensions and can get the version
