right, thanks... hadn't thought of that yet. All going fine, till I want to run a few methods of the PDO object. Once I try that, Apache (2) seems to crash. I tried reverse engineering what happens using:
<?php
$db = new PDO('mysql:dbname=mydb;host=127.0.0.1', 'root', '', array(PDO_ATTR_AUTOCOMMIT => 0, PDO_ATTR_PERSISTENT=>0));
Reflection::export(new ReflectionObject($db));
?>
and it crashes again... seems to be a bug... right?

This is a generic mysql on windows faq: use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost.
