So if I understand this correctly, my extension could be licensed with a PHP license, but the libraries it uses are GPL. This should be fine since the libraries it uses are not put into PECL, just the extension code is?
You can build an extension that links against an LGPL'ed library and that extension can go into PECL with a PECL-compatible license like the PHP license. That is not the case for a GPL'ed library because the GPL treats anything that links against it as a derived work.
Just wondering: How can extensions like gettext exist in PHP? The extension links against the GPL'ed gettext. Friedhelm
