I am only aware of 2 versions - GPL licensed and BSD licensed
The BSD one is almost 100% compatible with the original Borland code,
while the GPL one has some modifications. After brief review of the
GPL one's source, I think it is possible to link to any of these two,
with minimal re-configuration.
The GPL one looks much better - it is actively maintained, has native
support for different OS's (DOS, Linux (textmode and X11), Windows,
QNX), there exist binary distributions. The only disadvantage is the
license, but if not to tie to PECL, it is not a real problem. For me
personally, the BSD one works fine.
Why are you asking?
