Hi all,
PEAR 1.4.0 is nearing feature completion, and as such, I need to test some of the more advanced PECL features. On the top of the list is binary package support. I would love if someone would step forward and work with me, possibly offlist until things get squared away, on an extension that would benefit from having a windows binary (ahem, winbinder? :), and see if we can get the binary package thing working.
The main thing is to hash out the best implementation possible before things get set in stone.
The current implementation requires adding a separate package for the binaries (so something like winbinder and winbinder_bin). There are other possibilities which may be better, but we need some outside input from people who develop PECL extensions before an intelligent decision can be made.
