I've also thought of something like that. I think that's the real problem.
But is that extension phpcups native on Leopard's PHP, because i don't
remember istalling any kind of extension besides HTTP? When you talk about
compiling considering 64 bits directives, you are talking about the
extension itself or about the PHP source?
