Also as a PHP user, will such an extension be useful at all? (I think it will be)
Yes, right now I maintain an XMPP bot written in Ruby. Not a bad language, but I write PHP code all day every day and our company's entire framework is PHP based. I could a lot more cooler things for my users of our XMPP server if I could easily hook the bot into our existing code library. This is all assuming that the MUC support in Jaxl is good. Brian.
