I've tested it with PHP4 and an older PHP5 snapshot on Linux and at least id3_get_tag() worked with both of them. Didn't have a deeper look, but what where your problems with building it? It compiled with PHP4, but I could not read the data from a file that worked with PHP5...

Did you try the other two examples? id3_get_version() should return 1,3, 4 or 7 and the id3_set_tag() should throw a notice but return true.

Another thing: Afaik it's better to use php_error_docref() than zend_error() - at least one told me ;-) OK, I'll change that.
