Hello, my name is Michele Catalano. I am from Munich Germany and work at Mayflower GmbH (http://www.mayflower.de) as Senior PHP Developer. I have created the in co-work with Anatoly Belsky php_rsync PHP extension as an interface for the librsync library. The Extension can be found under http://github.com/ironpinguin/php_rsync The Extension is under BSD Licence. The librsync library itself can be found at http://librsync.sourceforge.org/ and implements rsync remote-delta algorithm (http://rsync.samba.org/tech_report). This algorithm is using a rolling check-sum and a md4 check-sum for blocks of the file to generate a signature file. The signature file is used to generate a diff from the file on the remote site. This diff can be used on the local site to patch the file. The Algorithm is from rsync 1.x and not compatible with rsync 2.x. In the source code under github is a short example for using the php extension with a server and client php script. I also would like to publish the extension to PECL and would require a PECL account.
