Hello,
Tried contacting Mr Pierre over chat, but hard luck. I have been going
through the documentation and some email conversation archives and saw that
pecl4win might not come up again. Sad. I had three pointers to check with
you.
** Here is a quick question? Is PHP 5.x compatible across, for VC9 or VC6 (
VC9 backward compatibility for VC6 compiled files); when it comes to usage
of PECL extensions for Windows compilation? I presume this is going to be
an eternal issue, if there is no backward compatibility. Especially when
the coding will move to VC2010 or higher someday.
** The museum link has list of compiled PECL .dlls (almost all, when a
systematic check of all *.zip files were made). Possibly VC6. To put a
direct question, will the PHP 5.3.x/5.4.x VC9 compilation allow functioning
of PECLs 5.2.6 VC6 compiled (and vc6/vc9 distribut-able installed
accordingly), without crash downs or errors? Not using PHP VC9 but would
like to know before upgrading to VC9.
** Here is a quick suggestion. Recommend updating links/ files or rather
have a common permanent Windows development link and needed library
repository/ svn link, whatever is needed, along with detailed installation
process. Must say that the installation documentation for Windows needs
some serious detailed visuals or rather "Better Explanation" and "Updated
LINKs of development libraries" that have upgraded and where the main
libraries websites are already using the VC2010v, like ICU. It was just a
mess getting through. PECL or PHP Development documentation or its
initiation is not detailed. Needs one I guess.
