Hi all,
here's the actual update on my gsoc-work.
best regards,
georg
TIME SPENT:
about 45 hours
HIGHLIGHT:
There was not a really highlight in the last two weeks. The most time I
spent on building and upgrading the taskScheduler-prototype.
KEY CONCERNS: -
WAITING FOR:
Feedback on the last update of the prototype (not urgent).
KEY TASKS THAT STALLED:
The pronounced shared-memory-option was dropped for now. The file- and the
msgq-variant are covering all our current requirements.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENT:
- Finalizing the taskScheduler prototype (signal-handler, clean
oo-structure).
- Extending the prototype to offer a "low-ipc-variant", using temporary
files instead of message-queues. This ensures that the multi-threading also
will work on windows-platforms.
- Creating four examples for testing the functionality and comparing the
runtime of the scheduler to get it at a admissible performance.
- Some minor adjustments in the run-tests-project.
- [off-topic] trying to get php53 running on my iphone - works almost ;)
MY TODOS:
Integrating the prototype in the runtests-project. The plan is to keep the
basic structure of the prototype and adding an adapter in the current
implementation which handles the communication.
