wget isn't the "download tool of choice" on all platforms, may I
suggest something along the lines of

What a complex thing, when you can just do a "copy($url, '.');". Anyway, the http wrapper may be disabled in PHP, so there's no universal way for downloading files.
This project is not supposed to be as universal as PEAR, and so we don't care about these kind of details. If you are deploying this beast, of course you have all the tools at hand. In the long run we may want to make it deployable on e.g. windows, but for now I don't care. Let's make it work first :)
