Don't be so sure: Perhaps Windows users are more frustrated by the bugs and
have camped out here in the hopes of fixing them. :-)

That's pretty odd. Zend.com tracked downloads of Optimizer, and a *LOT* of
the users were Windows. Way more than 18%. Closer to 40%, IIRC. I suspect
Windows users are less prone to filing proper bug reports than Un*x users:
That's why their posts are all over PHP-General instead of in the bugs
database where they belong. I also assume the Windows-dependent code is not
inherently less bug-prone than the Un*x code (the opposite, if anything).
[Ooops. I just realized that 40% statistic might be a sort of Zend trade
secret... Oh well.]
And a lot of Windows users are so used to software that just doesn't work on
their particular version of Windows, and won't be made to work in a short
time (ever wait for a patch from MS?), that they try it, it fails, they walk
away. End of story. Lost convert. They don't realize that a bug report
could give them a functioning product in (usually) 24 hours.
Thus, I don't think the Bugs database stats are a true representation of the
scope of usage and bugs.
