Why can't the included template know how to fill in the values? It kind of defeats the purpose of having included templates. In that case you may as well just have 1 template that draws everything, since it has to know all of the lower level variables anyways. What I want to be able to do, is have the 2nd and 3rd level templates describe how to fill in their respective template variables. That way, if you change the 2nd and 3rd level templates, the master doesn't have to know anything about it. Hence the ability of 1 php script that can handle a large group of pages, instead of only 1 type of page.
