Regular Expression Problem

Platform: Sparc Solaris 7 Apache: 1.3.11 PHP: 4.0b3 Problem: regex Ok, the problem seems to be the regular expression engine withing php. When I do something like this: ------------------------------------------------------------------ <?php print "<HR>"; $test = "Hello World"; $brks = split("\s+",$test); for ($i = 0; i < count($brks); $i++) print $brks[0]."<HR>"; ?> ------------------------------------------------------------------ The, program goes into infinite loop. If I use "[ ]", the program starts to eat cpu and goes to 99% I tried to compile it regularly (and I get the problem). I tried --with-regex=apache and still have the same problem. I have tried to compile with --with-regex=system, but as I posted before, I get a compile error (I posted it below for reference). This seems to be some solaris issue since noone else (other some other solaris soul :) seems to be having these issues. What can be done to eliminate this compile error (any ideas welcome)? I am not an expert, but it seems to not like the regex.h that is installed. Could there be a compatibility issue with the Solaris regex library perhaps?
