yes , but $str is set to 0 in this case, thats what i wanted to express
<?
print "( \$str= 0 or 1 ) is " . ( $str= 0 or 1 ) . " ; \$str is $str\n";
print "( (\$str= 0 ) or 1 ) is " . ( ($str= 0 ) or 1 ) . " ; \$str is $str\n";
print "( \$str= ( 0 or 1 )) is " . ( $str= ( 0 or 1 )) . " ; \$str is $str\n";
?>
gives
( $str= 0 or 1 ) is 1 ; $str is 0
( ($str= 0 ) or 1 ) is 1 ; $str is 0
( $str= ( 0 or 1 )) is 1 ; $str is 1
