my mistake, we are not using putenv in our scripts, we have SetEnv in the
httpd.conf which set the variables.. without this SetEnv in the httpd.conf,
we do not see the oracle variables via phpinfo..
we are not able to upgrade the (remote) database to 8.0.5.1, but we will try
with a 8.0.5.1 client..
i will report back with my findings..
thanks for your time
