How to optimize parsetime of arrays and included files

Hi, I have a very complex project involving a lot of included files with classes and big arrays. It seems that PHP4 still uses a lot of time parsing these include-files and arrays. I had expected PHP4 to parse this once and thereby strip the overhead of this parsing in the next hit on the script? How do I optimize this situation? Any special concerns?
