Talk was about XSLT in fact not about XSL. XSLT (XSL Transformations) is
part of XSL. XSLT is transformation language which can be used to
transform one XML element to other XML document or to HTML. That's we want
in PHP. XSLT was standardized as W3C Recomendation at the end of last
year.
XSL is name for technology which contains XSLT and so called formatting
objects (FO). FO is some sort of abstraction which can be used to describe
layout of document on screen, on paper or on whatever else. These part of
XSL is not finished yet. But for web developers is not of such
importantance. FO can be used for example for generating high quality PDF
files directly from XML documents.
