RE: [PHP4BETA] compile --with-xml problems

Yes, I'm using gnu make. Did you configure php --with-xml? The problem is with the dependency of php on an external source of expat. I'm assuming, perhaps not correctly, that the best source of expat is what is in the current version of apache (expat-lite). I don't know how, but the binaries between apache expat-lite and expat 1.1 seem to differ. So, what is the best thing to do? Download and install expat 1.1 and then statically build php or build apache and dynamically link in php at runtime picking up the expat libraries in apache? IMHO, the documentation should lead people to install php as an .so in apache and not statically link it in.
