BUG #1: PHP discards extensions defined prior to the ‘extension_dir’ definition in PHP.INI BUG #2: PHP does not handle white space properly when parsing initialization parameters in PHP.INI SYMPTOMS: #1. When PHP extension definitions such as “extension=php_mysql” are located prior to the “extension_dir=” definition in the PHP.INI file, PHP4 may discard or ignore previous extension definitions. #2. When white space precedes a pathname, PHP4 may not correctly interpret the pathname. MORE INFORMATION: Steps to Reproduce Behavior: These DO NOT work: [PHP] extension=php_mysql.dll extension_dir=C:\Program Files\PHP\Php4 [PHP] extension = C:\Program Files\PHP\Php4\php_mysql.dll extension_dir=C:\Program Files\PHP\Php4 These work: [PHP] extension_dir=C:\Program Files\PHP\Php4 extension=php_mysql.dll [PHP] extension=C:\Program Files\PHP\Php4\php_mysql.dll extension_dir=C:\Program Files\PHP\Php4 SOLUTION: This is a programming error in the code that parses the PHP.INI file; the code makes assumptions based on location of text within a particular [Section] of PHP.INI file. The code should be re-written such that items are processed in the proper order of precedence taking white space into consideration. TEMPORARY WORKAROUND: Place ‘extension=’ definitions after the ‘extension_dir=’ definition and eliminate white space before and after the equal “=” signs. TESTED ON PLATFORMS: FreeBSD UNIX Windows NT 5.0 (Win2000) WinNT 4.0 SP5 PHP4 Version: 4.0b4pl1 MySQL Version: mysql-shareware-3.22.32
