I'm not sure any more. Based on the first couple lines of php.ini-dist, I
created a php.ini file in the same directory as my script in the hopes that
this php.ini would be used instead of C:\WINNT\php.ini. Immediately after
creating the php.ini I got an access denied error when trying to run the
script. This isn't reproducing any more, so I'm going to need to see if I can
make it happen again. Some of my PHP4/IIS problems have been very sporadic
(like the occasional endless cpu-chewing loop while reading a socket) and I
have been reluctant to file a bug without being able to reliably reproduce
the problem. I thought I had such a case with this one, but it seems to have
gone away.
I'd run into quite a few problems with php.ini causing the ISAPI PHP to fail
in various fatal fashions, which seemed to have been reported already, so I
wasn't sure if I might have run into that problem again.

Thanks! I was getting pretty worried as we're on a rather aggressive
schedule[1]. This is exactly what I was looking for. Will the entries be
checked recursively or should I create entries for \Path, \Path\Subdir, and
\Path\Subdir\Subdir?
[1] Ever notice how the clients who want it done the fastest also want to
most last-minute changes? ("Oh, we need to use NT instead. Is this a
problem?")
