Hi guys--
I just had a horrible experience. It was mostly my fault, but I would just
like to know what exactly happened....I wrote this software that would
control a programming contest that the local chapter of the ACM was putting
on. I utilized PHP4 RC1 and Sybase to create the system. During initial
tests, everything worked very well. But as soon as the teams started loging
on, the database just seemed to die. Like 15 users was just way too much
for it or something. PHP seemed to act normally, but it was like no data
was being returned in SQL queries. I used sybase_pconnect every time I had
to connect to the database, so I don't think I was getting too many
connections or anything (and like I said before, it was only 15 people using
it).
Any Sybase people in here maybe know what I did wrong? I am reinstalling
Oracle8i as we speak....but I would still like to know what exactly did go
wrong.
Thanks in advance,
