Is xbithack supposed to work in the current PHP4 version? I haven't been able to get it to work ever in PHP4, including RC1.
I couldn't guess if there's anything I should put in php.ini, but I assume that I would put something like this in my httpd.conf:
php_admin_flag xbithack on
... but it doesn't seem to work. And I don't see any mention of xbithack in phpinfo(). Am I doing it wrong, or is it broken?
For those who don't know, xbithack being on would mean that one could set the user executable permission bit of .html files and that would be a signal to PHP to interpret them as PHP.
Btw, another simple and pretty useful way of making php pages appear like regular html pages to search engines, etc, without having to make all html be run through php, is to tell the web server to treat .htm as php, but not html. So, you would name your php files as .htm and the non-php files as .html
