Hi All,
I know this madness has been covered a number of times before... I've looked
through the archives, there's a lot of info there, but nothing that seems to
help me...
I have PHP4 RC2. I have gd 1.8.1. I take a little FreeBSD 3.3, mix - and
nothing seems to help... If some kind soul can explain this, and spare me some
time - I promise to write the definitive 'Getting PHP to see gd' FAQ. Honest.
For PHP configure, I run,
./configure --with-gd=/usr/local/lib/gd
Which net's,
checking whether to include GD support... configure: error: Unable to find
libgd.(a|so) anywhere under /usr/local/lib
Look in /usr/local/lib, and I can see:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 183138 Apr 18 16:54 libgd.a
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 10 Apr 18 16:54 libgd.so -> libgd.so.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 174411 Apr 18 16:54 libgd.so.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 152776 Apr 18 16:53 libjpeg.a
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 639 Apr 18 16:53 libjpeg.la
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 12 Apr 18 16:53 libjpeg.so -> libjpeg.so.9
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 127932 Apr 18 16:53 libjpeg.so.9
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 121468 Apr 18 16:51 libpng.a
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 11 Apr 18 16:51 libpng.so -> libpng.so.3
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel 112237 Apr 18 16:51 libpng.so.3
I've also tried getting ldconfig to rescan those dir's, but nothing can
convince PHP they're in there!
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be very, very grateful.
Answers to sensible "What checks does PHP do to find the libs?" and "Why is it
'failing to find' these?" questions would also be great!
Or if someone can spare some time to explain how all this hooks together, that
would also be very handy... For past versions of PHP I manage to get past them
empass, only to fail at compiling, or linking (despite my thorough use of -I
and -L :(
I've even looked in ./configure, to try to work out what magic recipe it's
looking for - all to no avail :(
