RC2 with gd 1.8.2 and JPEG

Hello,
I have Problems when rebuilding Apache_1.3.12 with libphp4.a, which was
compiled with gd-1.8.2 without any error:
./configure --with-apache=/usr/local/apache/apache_1.3.12 --with-gd=/usr
/local --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local --enable-track-vars
When compiling gd-1.8.2 I have followed the advices of Flavien Lebarbe,
who had send a HOWTO to this list some days ago.
When rebuilding Apache with the new libphp4.a the following error
occurs:
In function 'php_if_imagegif':
gd.c:637: undefined reference to 'gdImageGif'
What ist going wrong ?
