Didn't there used to be Zend vs. Perl benchmarks on zend.com? A potentially big user of PHP just asked about their relative performance. (Actually, the question was more like "I've heard that Perl performs WAY better than PHP, is that true?" I tried to enlighten them, but having a benchmark to point them at (which they can pass on) might help the cause a bit.)We never put any Perl benchmarks up, we only sent a couple on a fairly initial stage of Zend to core@. I can wrap up a couple of ultra simple tests (like an empty loop, a couple of function calls, in fact, I think we actually have these tests on the cvs tree), but I'm not upto writing a full featured benchmark. The reason we didn't pursue this was that we though we'd better lay off Perl instead of attacking it head first. I'm not sure about that approach though.
