We had this problem too and we´ve found no clean solution for this.
But these are the possiblities we´ve found...
1. Write a php page which executes everything needed and then writes an xml files without having displayed anything. Then let the php page display a frameset with only one (!!!) frame (virtually it´s not frameset nor frame anymore, but technically) with the created .xml file as target.
2. Wait an apache 2.0 which ought to support post-processing....
