cvs.exe needs to know where to store its files. It stores them in the directory pointed by %HOME% (at least that's what I remember, perhaps it's %CVSHOME% or something else).
Simply add
set HOME=C:\Program Files\CVS
or wherever else you want it to store its files to your autoexec.bat file.

Hi there, I'm a bit new to the CVS... I've tried to connect/read the PHP4 tree from cvs.php.net using the following: cvs -d <mailto::pserver:cvsread@cvs.php.net:/repository>:pserver:cvsread@cvs.php.n et:/repository login but it never asks me for a password (as I expect)... It gives me an error: (Logging in to <mailto:cvsread@cvs.php.net>cvsread@cvs.php.net) CVS.EXE [login aborted]: could not find out home directory Of course I tried to set the environment variable (CVSROOT) to any possible value I could think of :-) Like set CVSROOT=c:\cvs\php4 or set CVSROOT=/cvs/php4 or even set CVSROOT=:local:/cvs/php4 :-) Nothing happens (a part from the same error)... I'm starting to think that this is not the point... :-) BTW, I'm trying to download the tree using CVS for Windows (it's the only way I have to use this WinModem :-( Any suggestion would be appreciated, thanks Marco-- Zeev Suraski <zeev@zend.com> http://www.zend.com/ For a PGP public key, finger bourbon@netvision.net.il
