I think the problem was that fdopen() did not work or was not available on
Windows. However, what we could do was to implement our own file
structure and functions like fopen, fgets, fwrite etc. This file
structure should contain at least the file descriptor or pointer, a hash
with response headers for HTTP files and perhaps the file name.
This is right up my street these days since I've been working on the
socket io buffering (got a patch for fopen-wrappers.c lying around too).
