I followed those instructions.... this is what I got...
gcc -g -O2 -g -O2 -I. -I. -I./libzend -I./TSRM -I./libzend -I./TSRM -I/usr
/src/php-4.0b2/../apache_1.3.6/src/include -I/usr/src/php-4.0b2/../apache_1.
3.6/src/os/unix -I/usr/local/mysql/include -I/opt/sybase/include -g -c
main.c -o main.o
gcc -g -O2 -g -O2 -I. -I. -I./libzend -I./TSRM -I./libzend -I./TSRM -I/usr
/src/php-4.0b2/../apache_1.3.6/src/include -I/usr/src/php-4.0b2/../apache_1.
3.6/src/os/unix -I/usr/local/mysql/include -I/opt/sybase/include -g -c
internal_functions.c -o internal_functions.o
internal_functions.c:87: `phpext_sybct_ptr' undeclared here (not in a
function)
internal_functions.c:87: initializer element for `php3_builtin_modules[13]'
is not constant
make: *** [internal_functions.o] Error 1
Thanks a bunch for your help... I'm afraid my C isn't where is should be to
go much farther myself... any ideas on this one?

The configure/makefiles are severely broken for sybase-ct support -- they
don't update the internal_functions.c file properly. dblib sybase support
seems fine. I tried modifying this manually after running ./configure,
except on my system, during linking of apache, ld segfaults, and dumps core.
It's fairly simple to do this yourself, all you have to do is add two lines
to the file:
In the includes section, add:
#include "ext/sybase/php3_sybase-ct.h"
And in the declaration of the php3_builtin_modules[] variable, add the
following line somewhere in the list:
phpext_sybct_ptr,
I think that's all that's required, but I may be wrong. since I can't even
get sybase-ct working with php3 without segfaults with ld if I use the
version on www.php.net. If I use the version on ftp.sybase.com, I get
unresolved externals, because all functions (and function calls, including
libc calls) in it are preceded by underscores (DOS/Win style). Maybe you'll
have better luck than me with this.
