Hi,
sorry to talk to such an important issue, but IMHO, there
are a couple of functions, that should be part of Zend
itself. It's those one, who operate only on the things
defined in Zend (variables,etc...). This would allow all
Zend-extending applications (mysql?) have the same
functions... I'd say, most of the string/array handling, eval(),
etc... should be part of zend definitelly (those parts, that
don't depend on anything like DB, external library,...).
Sorry to talk'bout that, I personally don't like this
example, but consider VisualBasic -- if they didn't let the
extenders of VB just EXTEND the language with the stuff
they're ONLY into (the stuff, that belongs to the application
that should be scriptable with VB), thay didn't have such a
success. Otherwise I think, most of the developpers would
start with cvs checkout php4, cp ext/standard wherever...
and they'd have to watch the php4 list closely for
bugs,etc...
