Hello,
Following the pre-beta3 release for Windows, wouldn't it be useful
to have a similar package for UNIX (or more precisely, a ".tar.gz"
package of the SOURCE)? Such a snapshot, of course AFTER applying
the autoconf and all the other required builds, may add many other
users and testers to the process, and help the development to find
more bugs and/or problems. Even users who are familiar with CVS and
autoconf etc., sometimes are afraid of loading a broken mid-version
and a snapshot which is done in a "good" time may encourage them.
It is also common with many Open-Source projects, including Apache
( http://dev.apache.org/from-cvs/apache-1.3/ ).
Of course, contrary
to some of these projects, I don't mean an auto snapshot generation
but choosing a time when the CVS version is not too unstable (more
or less), and building a .tar.gz file ready for configure and make.
Is it possible to do? Maybe even today?
[In case the "final" beta3 is planned for the following, let's say,
24 hours, this snapshot is not relevant, of course, and I apologize
in advance if this is the case].
